Formerly the Casuarina Beach Club, this whitewashed hotel has been refurbished to create a contemporary, yet sophisticated retreat. And of course, its setting is every bit as beautiful as it's always been. Not only is it surrounded by eight acres of tropical gardens, it overlooks the mile-long Dover Beach which has white-coral sands. So peace and quiet come as standard. And although it feels off the beaten track, there are bars and restaurants just a short walk away. Plus, both St Lawrence Gap and Bridgetown are within easy reach.
At the hotel, you'll find three swimming pools hidden among the tropical trees. Plus there are plenty of sun beds dotted around the gardens, if you want complete tranquillity. Activities are in no short supply, either. Take your pick from things like tennis, Tai Chi and the gym. Or make the most of watersports like windsurfing, sailing and kayaking. As for kids, they'll love the activities centre and playground.
Inside, the hotel has a fresh, modern decor with dashes of Caribbean colour. There are three gourmet eateries to choose from, including the Mahogany Bar and Lounge which serves afternoon tea with homemade scones. As for the bedrooms, they're tastefully furnished and feature original artworks. Lovely and spacious, they come with satellite TVs, kitchenettes and a terrace or balcony which overlooks the gardens. For something really special, you can upgrade to a Deluxe Pool, Garden View or Beachfront room.
